2017 Taipei 5G Summit-The Power of New Radio & Edge Intelligence

Connecting to the 5G world starts from the 2017 Taipei 5G Summit! The Summit will be co-located with the WCIT (World Congress on Information Technology) on September 12-13, 2017 at the Taipei International Conference Center. Along with the Summit, the booth area gives exhibitors excellent opportunities for international exposure and business expansion. WCIT participants can also attend the Summit complimentarily, subject to the availability of the open seats. This Summit will introduce the current global 5G status and the development on Edge Computing, by bringing in notable industry specialists to share their vision on Edge Intelligence and the roadmap to 5G. “Edge Intelligence”, also referred to as the result of “Edge Computing” or “Fog Computing”, is the latest trend on exploiting effective means of deploying and managing the IIoT applications where utilizing the “Cloud” may be restrictive. For example, with all the sensing capabilities and analytic powers presented on the future “Connected Vehicles” or “Smart Factories”, many of the IIoT applications can be implemented totally different than today. The 2017 7th International Magazine Conference of Taipei is the most significant magazine media event in Asia, bringing together more than 300 elites and leaders in media and publishing industries in Taipei every three years.

The theme of the conference is “User Centric Business Model”. Magazines, under the impact of digitalization, are all seeking transformations, innovations and new revenue opportunities. Content was the main focus of magazines. With the digitalization taking the world by storm, magazines are forced to change their conventional publishing practices, shift to cross-device content and introduce and integrate digitalization and mobilization. Currently magazines should focus on cultivating their subscribers, discover the new subscriber-oriented business model, have proper customer relationship management (CRM) and boost revenue and competitiveness by enhancing the magazines’ brand influence.

Digital Transformation Association (DTA)

AFACT is the Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business. It's a non-profit, Non-governmental organization that is open to participation from the representatives of member countries and experts from private sectors within the Asia-Pacific region.

AFACT aims to promote the commitment and development of trade facilitation, electronic business policies and activities in the Asia Pacific region, mainly focusing on those promoted by UN/CEFACT (United Nations Center for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business), to guide, stimulate, improve and promote the ability of business, trade and administrative organizations from members, as well as to exchange products and relevant services effectively within AFACT community.

'e-ASIA' Awards is carried out at the same time of annual plenary every two years administrated by the relevant AFACT host member, starting in 2003.The event aims at promoting the achievement of AFACT member countries/economies in the development of trade facilitation, electronic business policies and practices, and initiatives for bridging digital divide in the Asia Pacific Region. The purpose of the e-ASIA Awards is to recognize the significance and great effort made within AFACT community and to encourage exchange of best practices. The event also intends to develop the mutual understanding and experience sharing between member countries/economies by displaying the shortlisted projects in the e-ASIA Awards Exhibition in order to help create business opportunities. The awarded project organizations can also play a role of consultant or trainer to be invited to some AFACT member countries/economies where the HoDs deem it valuable to introduce the best practices to their relevant governmental agencies or private sectors.

Civic tech is a new kind of civic engagement that uses technology and has become a key building block for democracies in the digital age. “Civic Tech Fest” is Asia’s first ever civic technology festival and conference, featuring a series of forums, workshops, roundtables, conferences and hackathons related to open data and open government. Civic Tech Fest will also host “[email protected]: Impact of Civic Technology Conference,” organized by UK-based mySociety. We will invite a number of experts, academics, hackers and members of governments to discuss and collaborate, and most importantly, have fun together!

The German Trade Office Taipei (GTO) together with the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA) is organizing a German Taiwanese Industry 4.0 & IoT Forum in the frame of the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) 2017. The event will take place on September 13 in the Taipei International Convention Center and we are expecting around 200 international and domestic guests. Germany and Taiwan are becoming new global leaders in the field of digitalized production, working together closely on the further development of Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing. This forum will present the recent developments in the field of Industry 4.0 and give an outlook on the future trends of IoT from the industries’ point of view. Smart and Sustainable Tourism Symposium

The tourism industry is characterized by entrenched traditional systems. But in the last decade, SOCOMO tech, online tech, and low cost carrier have disrupted the industry creating new trends and opportunities. Waves of innovation and entrepreneurship are sweeping through the region of the Southeast Asia, including Taiwan, as new players enter the travel industry. Tourism technology is rather new and experiencing growing pains as government policies and markets try to keep up. Although tech has disrupted tourism with new potential for growth, it is essential to future stability to continue exploration of tourism issues such as environmental and social community sustainability. Combining these key issues in this Tourism Technology hybrid, the symposium provides new insights for WCIT and other attendees. Tourism technology improves a traveller’s experience but can also facilitate deeper connections with the local community and include them as part of the greater global society. The Smart Tourism Symposium is the first project in this field in Taiwan. PATA Chinese Taipei Chapter aims to be the spearhead of this event, and create a space for IT and tourism together to exchange and share thoughts.

Youth Forum @ WCIT 2017

Ministry of Education

In order to encourage the startup of Taiwan youth, Ministry of Education will hold a series of Youth Forums to connect the national and international resources of startup ecosystem. This project is not only to help entrepreneurs to reach more industry resources, but also to build the connection between diversity stakeholders: industries, education systems, financial or investors and training resources. Furthermore, during the 21st World Congress of Information Technology (WCIT), we invite Taiwan youth to participate in WCIT to witness the evolution process of Taiwan technology.
